Listening to the woman made his eyes rolls, and his hands twitch. How many priests had he heard say those words? How many had told him he had a good head, but a poor temper. He had the ability to do better for himself, if he had just tried. Afterall, wasn't that why he had joined the army, went to France, did his part in the great war? What was it all for, a disagreement with an officer, and a discharge from the one place that had kept him on the straight and narrow? Then where did he have to turn? A job in a factory? How do you go from crawling through hell. That was when he had lost the last shreds of his faith.

Looking up from his glass, James tilted his head, and shrugged. "Why do ya even care? Who the hell are ya, anyway? Ever since I came back 'ere, ya been followin' me. Everywhere I go, you're there... Why?"

The woman could hardly stand the man. The part of her wanted to rip his throat out and bring it to God with a hand full of blood, but she knew herself otherwise. No matter how hard she tried, she wouldn't be able to touch the man. Not even a single hair. And it drove her crazy. Through the boiling of her human form blood, she was about to erupt when he looked at her, and told her to go away and that nothing that she said even mattered. How about all the times that she had come down to Earth just to knock some sense into him? Still, nothing worked. For a moment, she paused, looking up at the man and then up to the sky, sending a quick prayer for strength and patience while they were both running thin. She knew that God would have her back through the entire situation, but her look into the future was bleak and vague. It was unfamiliar territory with the man and she had no clue why. With all of her other subjects she could see clearly.

And here, she stood with the man that didn't give a complete **** about anything but the only guilty and selfish desires of the life that he made himself. Her eyes rolled as he practically urged her to return to a husband that she was not even legally married to. Though, as her eyes glanced down at the rock on her hand, her human form was married. She shook her head and slipped the ring off her hand. She knew that the ring would cause trouble for not only her, but if it were missing her human form would be upset too with herself as well as her husband with her. It was a good thing that her form was in the ground previously. Though it looked as if she was just fresh from a make over. It was nice adding an Angel's touch.

She thought quietly to herself as she glanced forward, watching the man just stalk away to make himself a drink when she had walked out. It was knowing to him as he called her out on it that she should come back in because she was still watching. She rolled her eyes again and shrugged her shoulders as her hand simply pushed the door open, though it had been locked previously. "For a man like you, you are very smart, just ill mannered. Straighten yourself up on the right path and then you wouldn't have to steal for food, gold, or anything of the sort. It would be falling at your feet practically by the time that you actually deserve it." She said softly.

Though she knew the man wouldn't fall for such words, she continued. "But don't ever listen to me. It'll come through in time, and soon you will be able to understand the true plan of what God has in store for you."

"Jus' leave me tha hell alone, will ya!? I do naw want yer help! I neva asked Fer it!" he words were still ringing in his ears though, even as he walked away. She would always be back, every time he did something illegal, or wrong, she would be there to lecture him. She always was, it was infuriating, no matter where he went, she would be there to chide him about his evil ways. There was no way to escape her, he knew that, no matter what he tried, she would find him, somehow. It just did not seem at all natural.  Shaking his head, he threw his hands up and walked away. He needed a drink, and someone warm to hold.

Two hours later, James was sitting on the couch in his house. A woman in his lap, kissing his neck, her hand tugging at his belt. Still though, James could find no joy in the moment, no matter what they did. In his mind all he could hear was that woman's voice, reciting the commandments. Specifically the one about committing adultery. Pushing the woman away, he stood, and pointed towards the door. "Out..." when she began to protest he grabbed her coat and threw it at her."Get, tha hell out of this house. Return to your husband, and get out of my sight." when she finally left, James poured a glass of scotch and left his front door open. "Well? Where are ya? I know yer watchin'."

It was always times like these that she could care about her job. It was turning the lost souls toward the light. The man had been traveling down the wrong path for a very long time. She knew his background, his history, his hard times, and his good times. A sympathetic look overcame her face as she stepped around the stack of bills that lay on the wet grass. The dew was sticking to her clothes and covering her skin. The look of her blue eyes met his as he simply was starting to speak softly. His true vulnerabilities were showing and she couldn't help but smile. The rebellious child was always looking for the light that gave her meaning. Despite the hard times that he had put her through, it was still always these times that made her job worthwhile, except for the brutal ending that always came. As it wasn't their first conversation about God, and how much He apparently didn't care about the man. And every time he looked for flaws in her speech. There were always none, but there was still haunting doubt. The doubt of the shadowed one that continued to bring up the past in his memories. She knew that soon the shadows would clog his thoughts about believing. Tonight, she hoped would be the night to overcome. She let her hands loosen around the fabric of her hat and looked at him.

"I never think about it. My faith is never ending. And I know, once you see what believing can do, your faith will do the same." She said, but then, her sarcastic sneer came back to match his own glaring thoughts. "However, I will continue to show up and push you in the right direction, even when you are on this path. It's not all rainbows and glowing unicorns. I mean seriously, life is hard. It shapes you and puts you in places to teach you things so then you're able to enter the Kingdom in your rightful manner." She scoffed and crossed her arms over her chest with her hat hanging loosely from her fingers.

"You can believe me, you cannot believe me. You can do what ever you think your heart desires, but then again, I'll be coming back to claim your life every time." She said, her own eyes narrowing.

James threw up his hands in desperation as he paced back and forth. This woman was like a plague, and would not just leave him be. It was true everytime he comitted a crime she would show up. Like a hangover after a night of hard drinking, every single time, she was there. Lecturing him, quoting the ten commandments, spitting some shite about how God was frowning on the things he did. "I dun care." he snapped finally, as he turned back towards the woman.

Stuffing the bills back into his pockets, he shrugged. "I dun care what ye think of me. I dun care what anyone thinks. Afterall, no one e'er cared when I needed it the most. So why Botha carin' now?" turning away, he waved his hand dismissively. The thief had no desire to be here anymore, he needed a drink, most likely several, mayhap a woman as well.

With a glance over his shoulder he glared at the woman, and sneered. "Maybe yer god is wrong abou' me. Ever think of that, lass?"

"Oh bloody hell, it's you again!? Ye damnedable woman."

She stood, and simply shook her head as she lifted her perfectly manicured angelic hands. "I can take you to hell if you need me too. Lucifer eats men like you for breakfast." She stated, narrowing her eyes in the direction of the pissy man. She simply rolled her eyes. He was definitely one of a kind and she knew by the way that her body warmed that there were things that she shouldn't have said. Her wings ached in response to the Holy One giving her a signal that she needed to be a little more encouraging. However, this man was definitely pushing her limits. She sighed under her breath and she glanced to the side, still fingering her hat's fabric. There was only so much a guardian angel could do for their chosen human. And, he continued to bash her presence as well as the Father's."Though shall not-blah, blah, blah. Save ye bible poundingfor someone who gives a damn. That man in the clouds ain't dun right by me, since I was a boy. Ye think one crazy lady following me aroun' will change that?" The woman felt rage enter her veins of the human form. She felt as if her light was going to shine through and burn his eyes, as she wished she could do that, but her holy light would not be used in that manner...At least not at this point. She shrugged it off.

When he moved and continued to count the bills before stuffing them in his pocket, she wished that she could poof it back where it belonged, but she knew that it was all going to come back to him in a matter of time. But, even with being his guardian angel, she was to guide him and move him to the right path, but he was harder than she could have ever imagined. Being years and years older than him, she had seen many headache cases, but never this difficult. She paused and lifted up her eyes to the sky for a moment. And during this time, he had walked over and stuffed the bills in her hand, as if it were going to pay for all of his sins. A laugh escaped her lips as she stared at him for a moment, as if he was crazy. "Do you really think this is what is going to get me to leave you alone?" It didn't stop him, he began to bash her more and wish her away. "What do you want? I gave ya money! Leave me be!"

"I don't want your stolen money. I mean seriously, come on. And plus it's damp, you have no idea the places its been. And I mean trust me, you don't want to know." She knew the life of the bills and it made her squirm with disgust when she held them. The amount of body parts and how much was on them she could barely look at it without thinking it was a piece from hell itself. "I think even if you knew where it came from, you would drop it in a heartbeat." She said playfully as she tossed it back at him like it was worthless to her. As it was. She didn't need money in heaven. It was definitely a root to many evils on earth, but humans didn't understand it. They still used it.

Sighing heavily, she looked at him with frustration. "You know exactly who I am. This isn't the first time you've seen me, but haven't you noticed that once you do something completely idiotic I show up?" She crossed her hands over her chest. Or was he ever going to learn?

"Right, let's see 'ere..." a hand combed back dripping hair from his face, as he sat up and dumped the contents of his score on the beach. Upending the bag of coins, he counted them out and nodded, before he checked the soaking bills. "four hundred pound, not bad. These bonds aught be with sumthin' as well." his hand closed on the ruby in his pocket and pulled it free. Holding it up to the moon he smiled and let out a low whistle."Beauty... tha'll be a nice penny." As he sat admiring the stone, he almost jumped out of his skin when he heard the voice that began to lecture him.

"Oh bloody hell, it's you again!? Ye damnedable woman." The blade he had produced was slipped back up his sleeve, as this peculiar specimen rambled on, about 'Sins.' Honestly, it was enough to make a man swallow his own bullet. "Though shall not-blah, blah, blah. Save ye bible poundingfor someone who gives a damn. That man in the clouds ain't dun right by me, since I was a boy. Ye think one crazy lady following me aroun' will change that?" James reached down, and grabbed several of the bills before standing up and walking over.

Grain her hand, he shoved the bills into it, and stepped back. "Ther, now go on an' git out of 'ere. And stop followin' me, you mad woman." Honestly it's not that like he cared about what she thought, or God, for that matter. He had no faith in the man, not since France, not anymore.

Moving back to his I'll gotten booty, he gathered it up, and stuffed his wet mask into a pockwt. When he turned, a groan escaped from his lips at the sight before him. "What do you want? I gave ya money! Leave me be!"

With clear eyes, she watched carefully. Through a looking glass, she was like a fly on the wall. Each click was a way in to the lock at which coins and other treasures were inside. She knew what was inside, and she knew the thief who was doing it too. Her eyes rolled to the side as she ran her fingers through her curly tresses. How could he being doing this again? Sweat beaded on her brow from frustration and she simply wiped it away. A soft sigh came to her lips as she glanced around her. She knew Father was always watching and He knew her attitude toward the man who didn't pay attention to her at all. He barely believed that she existed, but it was something that she had to be persistent on. It was forbidden for her to give up. "Father, please, give me another candidate. I can't stand him anymore. He barely listens." Her surroundings shook and she sighed heavily like a pissed off teenager. "Yes. I know. You assigned us for a reason." She said sarcastically and clicked off the looking glass and stepped away. Soon, moments later, she was standing in the shadows of the human realm. How could Father let her be apart of someone's life that changed others for the bad. It was definitely getting old having to answer to wishes of others due to the man's wrecking habits.

Her fingers twitched as she turned her head to look down the rubble the humans were to call a road. Within her human garb, she wrapped up due to the cold weather surfacing the Earth. The tresses fell down her shoulders and she continued to push herself to walk forward in the time period's shoes. They were uncomfortable and she hated being a woman in this time period. No one knew comfort. Her wings strained underneath her coat in her skin. She didn't like putting them away, but even when she pulled them free, Father was not so happy. The rebellious angel was definitely a learning tool for the Father himself. She walked with grace as she followed the man that ran free. The guard had barely noticed him and she shook her head. A soft smile on her face as she came to stand next to the guard who was rubbing his sweaty brow. Glancing at her as she walked by, he smiled and muttered a comment that she wished that she didn't hear. Her eyes rolled and with a twitch of her fingers the door to the shop slammed shut and locked the guard out. A simple laugh escaped her lips and soon she was angling the corner where she found herself flashed by the river that wasn't far from the small city. He had ran fast, but she already knew that he had been working to get another good steal.

She knew everything to know about the man.

He congratulated himself as he pulled himself from the water. Azure simply shook her head and removed her hat to look at the man. "You know that you're not supposed to do that. Thou shall not steal." She said, quoting one of the ten commandments, like she did every time. A simple shake of her head caused her to watch him carefully. She couldn't harm or affect his choices as much as she wanted to. He was simply too much to control! Her eyes narrowed toward him. "Every time I come around to visit you, you are stealing something, cheating someone, trying to kill someone, or bluffing terribly in a poker game. Whenever will you quit?" She said, looking at the man.

She fingered the fabric of her hat as she looked at him, waiting for him to respond. However was the man going to cover his ass tonight?

"Easy.... almos'... an' there tis." Whispered words were received by the soft click of the lock as it opened to his touch. Within seconds he had the lock box open, and it's contents on the table before him. A bag full of coins, a stack of bills, a few bonds, and one rather large ruby. A respectable score for such a long wait. Filling his pockets the man closed the box, replaced the lock, and slipped the container back under the floorboards where he had taken the object from. A quick glance at the clock on the desk and he breathed a sigh of relief. Five more minutes before the night watchman returned.

He gathered his articles of business. A lock pick set, a stiletto knife, and of course the black handkerchief that he retired around his face. Turning towards the window, he froze as he heard the creaking of hinges. "What Tha hell." The man spun around, and stared at the uniformed man in the doorway, before glancing at the clock. "T-three... three m-m-minutes. F-****." Another metallic click, and the guard had a gun in his hand, cocked and pointed at the thief. "Oh s-shite..." This was just perfect, here he was, a gun leveled at him. Caught red handed, and that damped speech thing started acting up. Slowly he back towards the open window. "Oi, don't move." The gun was waved at him, and he froze, his heel touching the wall behind him. "L-l-listen, I don' w-wan' any t-t-t... problems... my mistake, I'll j-j-just leave..."

The guard turned on the stuttering thief, and raised his gun. "Like hell you will. The Yard will want words with ya." That was the wrong thing to say, he refused to be taken in to the Scotland Yard. That den of corrupt brutes, acting like they were the law. "I dun think sah, lad." Came his replu, before twisting and leaping out the window into the river below, all the while gunshots chased after him. When he finally surfaced, and crawled from the freezing water, he lay upon the banks, checking to make sure his haul was still intact. "Damn fine job ye did there, Jimmy..."
