Her jaw flexed visibly. The idea of Akito being the leader was not absurd. His track record was impressive, having beaten Uchiha and proven himself to all the providences.

Out of her peripheral, she looked him over as her stomach knotted.

As soon as they were dismissed, she left the room without speaking once. When her few belongings were packed into a few, meager bags, she boarded the rail car. In the furthest, most secluded available seat, she situated herself and closed her eyes, allowing the sand dooms to bleed into lively greenery outside of the window.

Once the team had arrived, the Kazekage looked up from her paperwork, eyes settling on each of the young ones before she cleared her throat. She wasted no time getting straight to business. "I have a mission for you. Hopefully, it will be uneventful, but I need you to be on your guard all the same."

She picked one of the papers from her desk and looked it over before continuing, the lack of laugh lines in her face becoming more apparent as the sun beamed in from outside. "The Feudal Lord of the Land of Wind will be meeting with the Feudal Lord of the Land of Fire in the Hidden Leaf. The three of you will serve as his 24 hour guard until the time negotiations are complete. Akito will serve as the Team Captain."

The Sand was the only team in the Chunin exams to have all three of it's members promoted to Chunin, but Akito had undeniably performed the most admirably, winning the entire tournament by defeated Uchiha Raidon in the final round.

"Prepare your things and be ready to leave in no more than 30 minutes. You will be traveling to the Hidden Leaf by rail car." With that, they were dismissed to get ready.

The angry sun threw waves of heat over her neck as she removed her jacket and slung it over the crippled wooden chair beside her. Or what was left of it anyways. The thing was probably as old as the sand mounds in the East. It was high noon, the hottest hour of the day, making it difficult to practice. Instead of caving in under the pressure of the heat, she pushed herself, angling her hands just right, and summoned the energy that enticed her rattled nerves. A light breeze picked up, but it was not the wind, rather the unleashing of the energy into the atmosphere. Her eyes shut, hiding the bright blue orbs, as a droplet of sweat followed her hairline down to her chin. The tips of her fingers prickled, but only silence ensued.

Right before she could collapse beneath the strain, she gave up. She placed her hands on her knees as she fought to catch her breath. Her mouth was uncomfortably dry. A curse emitted from her lips as she grabbed her jacket and headed out of the training grounds and back into town.

Ever since her loss to Raidon, nothing had been the same between her and Akito. Although he did not say it, she could read the disappointment in his eyes. Rikona had lost more than just a tournament that day.

Although the day was still young, everyone in the village was out and about, to her dismay. There had been talk of her defeat, and worse, unseemly rumors. She tried not listen to them, but she knew Akito heard them too.

Although she had worn herself out, Rikona entered an establishment to meet up with her squad to go before the leader. She grabbed a cup of water along the way and then waited in silence until they were ushered in.

Tama rarely showed any emotion on her face. If she did, she would probably be much more relatable. She appeared twelve years younger than she was, and  she was actually rather kind! Her stone face simply made her appear intimidating!

Even so, Everyone in the village loved her. She had advanced the hidden sand by leaps and bounds in the time since becoming Kazekage.  It was early, and there was only one assignment that needed to be issued immediately, so she decided to go ahead and get it out of the way.

Sunagakure (砂隠れの里, Sunagakure no Sato, Literally meaning: Village Hidden by Sand) is the hidden village of the Land of Wind. As the village of one of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, Sunagakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Kazekage, of which there have been seven in its history. Being surrounded by desert offers the village a natural deterrent against invasion, as few foreign powers would be willing to endure the sandstorms and water scarcity common to Suna. Sunagakure itself lies in a fortified valley behind cliffs of rock, with passage in and out of the village restricted to a single cleft between two cliff faces, making the area very hard to attack from the ground. The buildings inside seem to be made of clay or stucco, which would help to keep the buildings cool.

In current days, with the aid of power generators from the Hidden Leaf, Suna has worked to make it's lands more inhabitable, building the localized cooling units, locating multiple
new water sources, and using surrounding lands to grow an array of plants and herbs that weren't possible in the past. Under the eye of the seventh Kazekage, Suna still has a strong bond with Konoha
