She watches him pick up the tray and walk into the garden, but before following in his direction, she makes one last trip to the fridge, pulling out a little jar and then finally making her way to the garden too. It was exceptionally beautiful in the morning, their horizon being the painted sky, the landscape bordered with flowers of all colours, and all scents, truly a magical place. Imperfect had wanted Isis to grow up in a home that felt like home, she didn’t want the child to be moved around and relocated because it would hinder her, emotionally, physically, and their beautiful baby girl was living youth’s spring right now, so she couldn’t be any happier with her family, and the life they had built for themselves. The woman was immensely proud of her husband, who had managed to open his heart not only to her, but Calyx too, and then his loving arms to his daughter, who he showered with affection and warmth every single day.

“Becaauuusseee,” her eyebrows perk up as she speaks, twisting the lid off the jar and picking up a little spoon to delve into it, the jam melting in her mouth, as her taste buds opened and invited the sweetness the fig offered, “my body wills it so, and I do love watching you sleep.”

He had gotten her the jam on one of his travels after she had exclaimed, with passion, her love for everything and anything fig-related. It was the little things in their life that made her fall back in love with him on a daily basis, and one of the main reasons why after so many years, their spark was as bright as it was when they had first met. Snapping out of her thoughts, her brows now furrow, causing her forehead to crease with worry as she turns to him, reaching out to rest one of her hands on his forearm.

“Though recently,” she sighs softly, “you seem to have these dreams, they trouble you in your sleep, my love. Has anything happened?”

The look on her face was one of concern now, truly worried for the man sat next to her, wanting to be there for him and whatever he seemed to be going through. If there was something that was worrying him, perhaps she could quash it, but without communicating about the source of this worry, there was nothing she could do for him.

Azriel definitely wasn't as good at reading emotion as Imperfect was. Furthermore, he was vastly unaware how easily his own emotions were read. It was only natural since he was new to expressing emotion at all. So it was only natural that he was unable to read Imperfect's concern. He followed her instructions happily, the comfort she offered overshadowing the concern he felt well enough for him to move with a smile. "Well enough for you to get out of bed without my noticing, so I'd have to say I slept wonderfully!"

The smells that filled the room were intoxicating, as usual. Marrying Imperfect was the absolute best decision he had ever made! To think that the two had met by random encounter while Imperfect was tending to Calyx. "That sounds great, my love..." He said. He took the plates when they were ready and lead the way to the garden, where he could release his wings. Keeping them contained always felt like pressure in his back muscles. He loved being outside, where they could be free. He had come to accept their tainted black color, and even enjoy it! "So why -do- you get up so early, even when you don't have to?" He asked. He couldn't help but wonder, and it was still a distraction from his concerns.

As she gathers all the ingredients, she notices the way his expression drops a little, and immediately begins to observe his physical stance, focusing on not just his demeanour, but the beat of his heart, his thoughts, and his mind. There was a weight and burden her husband carried and despite how intimate and close they were, she hadn’t scratched the surface for this one concern that seemed to swallow him up. As she begins chopping the onions, and tomatoes, she nods in the direction of the cupboard behind him, “grab a pan, and put the stove on dear.” Sliding past him to grab some of the herbs to coat her ingredients with, she stops for a second to set a kiss to the tip of his nose, before continuing on to the fridge, pulling out two eggs.

“How did you sleep?”

The question was a distraction from her previous line of thought, which she chose not to address before breakfast so the man didn’t lose his appetite, that’s the last thing she would want. Walking over to the stove now, she drops the contents on the cutting board into the pan, before cracking two eggs into the concoction. In the oven, was fresh bread she had made this morning for Isis, so she reaches down to check if it’s still warm. Deciding it was, she sets two plates on the counter and a basket between them filled with seeded slices, before walking back to the stove to turn off the bubbling tea, the scent of cardamom filling the room as she pours it into two cups and sets it on the tray by the plates.

“Should we eat in the garden?”

She turns off the stove completely as the smell of eggs and tomato also engulfs the kitchen, putting a large portion onto his plate, It was known she didn’t have the biggest appetite in the morning, and sometimes, a coffee was all it took to fill her.

Amazing how a person can be a sight for sore eyes, even when they were the last person you set eyes on... The kind of relief that Imperfect's perfect face offered was unreal. After living a life void of emotion for so long, it was still hard to imagine that he now lived a life so full of love and joy! As he took her hand and followed her to the kitchen, he wondered what Raijuta felt when he looked at her. He respected, and trusted Raijuta. And he understood that the Draconian had a beautiful wife and family of his own. But Azriel simply couldn't imagine Imperfect's former lover looking at her and not feeling a bit of that lost love...

"That's because I'm waiting to surprise you." he said. One day, he truly intended to do so. He just needed to figure out how to set an alarm that wouldn't wake her up as well! He would have to do some intense plotting in order to pull it off, but for now, breakfast sounded amazing!

Azriel had a perfect memory. He could recall anything he had seen or heard in his lifetime as if it were on video. Due to this, he was an amazing cook. He could execute any recipe flawlessly. But somehow, his meals never had the same appeal as Imperfect's. Even when he copied her own methods it always felt like something was missing. He could only conclude that the missing element was something within her, rather than the ingredients. "Do you need any help?" He asked as she made her way to gather ingredients. Honestly keeping his hands busy may have been the only way to stop him from worrying about Isis...

When she was left alone with her lover, there was no sense of time, of future and past, just the present, and how they indulged in a present where they had nothing to do all day, which didn’t come around too often. They were always busy with the outside world, but they managed everything with grace and still made time for each other. It seemed, over the years, and with the birth of their beautiful girl, their love had only strengthened and as he meets her halfway and disrupts her line of vision, she can’t help but let a wave of emotion wash over her, indicated in the radiance and glow her cheeks held when he kissed her, not once, but two times.

“You knoooooooow” she coos softly, cupping his cheek in her hand, “you say that every single day, and yet” she laughs softly, teasing him before setting a few kisses to either side of his face, warmth, and love emanating from her soft touch. There was nothing as singular and important that had happened since her birth, than meeting him, apart from the birth of her two children, whom she prioritized above everything else, but her husband was her anchor, he healed her when she needed it most, and perhaps in her own way, she had healed him too.

“C’mon, I’ll make breakfast.”

Before he could protest, she wraps her slender fingers around his and hops down the stairway, leading him to the kitchen.

Azriel wasn't blessed with the ability to sense energy like Calyx or his other family members. However, he could always tell when Imperfect was near. As she approached, he headed back inside, meeting her at the stairway. "Good Morning, my love." He said, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, followed by one on her lips.

Before him stood the woman that had taught him more than anyone. Azriel; the one once known as the Angel of Knowledge. He had been caught up in a world of Illusions for Centuries. It was her that taught him how unimportant it all was, that he could choose to be happy where he was. He could never repay her for everything she had given him; More than anything, his daughter.

When Isis was born, Azriel had a premonition that came to him in a dream. It told him that she would be a part of a struggle far greater than any he had experienced in his lifetime. That she would hold the Key to the future of countless worlds with a single decision. Since that day he worried every time she left his side. But he trusted Calyx to protect her. And he comforted himself with the thought that she had many years before that time would come.

"One day I'm actually going to see your face next to mine when I awaken." He said gingerly. It was a well known fact that she always woke up first. One day he would surprise her though. For now, he just had to enjoy the day. There was no town hall, no speeches or meetings. Just the two of them. It was a rare time indeed, and he would enjoy it to the fullest.

Imperfect woke up at exactly 7 a.m. sharp, it was routine now, what with Isis growing and getting more intelligent every single day. She made her way downstairs and made breakfast, filling the kitchen up with a sweet aroma of syrup and pancakes. She packs Isis’ share and slips it into her backpack before going upstairs to get her ready for a day at school, or so she called it. To her surprise, Isis was standing at the top of the stairs, packed, hair perfectly plaited in a french twist, shoes on and everything.

“Okay, I see someone’s eager about schooool,” she teases her little angel before picking her up and hopping down the stairs joyfully. Her laughs were infectious as they filled their home warmly. After kissing both her children bye, she takes the cup of coffee she had made for herself and makes her way to the garden. The morning was when she relaxed most, before having to go pick Isis up and make lunch and dinner. Sure enough, their days were busy and hectic, but they gave her a sense of purpose, she enjoyed living again, with her husband, and her children.

“Talking about the husband. . .”

She makes her way back into the house, and up the stairs, sure to meet her snow-haired lover halfway.

Azriel looked out at the Kingdom that he and his beloved had built. A Kingdom in a space it's own, built for Fallen Ones such as they, and only accessible to those invited. He had learned much from the Draconians, and had built a strong and healthy relationship with them. He had grown close to Calyx as well; a fact that he was most grateful for. It was his Stepson who had taught them how the Dragon's Den was formed, and the way to create a similar Dimension for his own type.

It was early morning. Azriel had awakened to find that he was alone in bed. A quick search of the Castle didn't turn up any signs of Imperfect, however it wasn't long before Calyx arrived to pick up Isis and take her to school. Afterward, they would surely go back to the Dragon's Den to play with the other kids. It was hard to believe that they had a five year old daughter already! And what's worse, she had more of a social life than they did!

He stepped outside and flew up to the roof. He looked out at the rest of the Kingdom. It was small, housing only six other Fallen ones, and had frequent visits from Calyx. But it was their home. It was safe, and protected and that was what Mattered. Azriel taught their residents not to be ashamed of what they were, but instead to embrace it. Each of them had a home, nestled in the clouds. He loved his home, and couldn't wait to see it grow and expand. But for now, he'd settle for seeing his wife's face...
