Standing beside the goddess, Aetus dared not move lest he were to collapse from the sudden exhaustion that swept through him; a weariness that clung to his bones. The Blackwood hadn't known what it would mean for him to come back, to allow those parts of himself so locked away to sweep forth anew. Before his touch upon the worlds of men had been nothing but loose, tenuous. Now, as those who worshipped him and those who prayed to him looked for signs of his return, as they spoke and bespeeched him, as they cursed and exalted his name, that touch was a firm grasp; his body suffusing with the power of those who called him god.

Still, it was a slow process to acclimate himself to returning feelings, of taking the mantle of his godhood back.

Perhaps this will not be permanent, he looked at his hands, flexing his fingers and clenching them into fists before unclenching them, sighing as he shook his head.

In truth, he was wary of coming back; of allowing himself to be found again -already he felt the searching gaze, the slight acknowledgement of his return to the mortal planes, of his own kin. No doubt they'd have their own questions. Let them find their way here. Aetus was not in a hurry to meet any of them any time soon. Avoiding problems may not be the best solution, but how was he to know if there a problem? After all, he had been gone an awful long time...

Although, his guest did not look too ecstatic about being back. A feeling he shared, truth be told.

Arching an eyebrow, he would ask, 'May I ask what is troubling you?'

For him, he knew he had left in an act of childish anger; the death of his wife, as well as some family strife, had left him a husk; a shell of a man, nevermind being a god. He had taken upon himself the wrath of his father and siblings, of incurring the wrath of the Ancients' themselves, but in the end, he allowed the events to play out. He shuddered at the thought of the Ancients', his own experience showing them to be ruthless and without mercy. Still though, he understood their necessity; admired them for their tenacity. While Aetus felt exhausted, his body ached from the power humming through his veins, he also felt rejuvenated; refreshed. Perhaps being back wasn't such a bad thing after all.

After the week she had spent here, in the confines of Aetus’ home, Afroditi dreaded the idea of having to leave. The man had opened the lock to his heart and showed her a magnitude of emotions, and feelings that she couldn’t experience before, perhaps because he didn’t allow it. To her surprise, she found pleasure in the warmth that pulsated through him now, and needless to say, this break was exactly what she needed to recoup. As they sit on the porch, in their most primal forms, she watches him meander over into the open space in front of his house, leaning back in the chair, and watching the sky.

The wash of lilac that paints it beautifully, mixed with soft hues of turquoise, and pink complimenting each other brings her comfort. It was his doing, but it was beautiful, nonetheless, much like him. The man that she had uncovered had slowly become a part of her; it seemed, she missed him when he was away, even if for a moment, and her heart yearned for him, in a way it never had before.

As she sits and watches the sky, her brows furrow with a newfound realisation and she jolts up, eyes widening as she watches his back, isolating herself in her own mind, so much so, that she doesn’t detect the change that had ensued, unlike her, because usually, she never missed a thing. The smallest details wouldn’t get past her, it’s why she was so good at hiding from Ares, and Zeus. Though she loved her brother, their relationship was confusing, to say the least, always fighting, never outwardly expressing their love for each other, and always in disagreement. But they did agree on one thing;  Zeus was overbearing. He demanded control where he had no right to, and though they were fully grown, he still tried to influence their personal lives. Recently, he had been on the prowl for her, and she knew he would come soon, which is why she had stayed so long. This company was something she wasn’t going to have for a while, so it was only right to indulge while she can.

As Aetus makes his way back, she sighs softly, wrapping her fingers around his for a moment, before simply letting their hands touch, enjoying the simple connection and the current of power that rippled between them. She pulls him down so he’s also seated before leaning against his side, pressing a soft kiss to his shoulder; his voice, while soothing, didn’t take away her worries, and as a few minutes went by, he would surely break past the barrier of her mind and feel how unnerved she felt.

“I know. . .”

I don't want to leave you. . . not yet.

Her tone breaks the silence that she had let float around them, looking up at him, and biting her bottom lip worriedly. The sky would soon open, and if she were lucky, it would be her brother who found her first, to at least give her a warning of how bad the situation at home was.

"I'm so glad you're here," Aphrodite said.
"War is coming. Bloodshed is inevitable. So there's really only one thing to do."
"Uh. . . and that is?" Annabeth ventured.
"Why, have tea and chat, obviously."

It had been several days, or perhaps weeks, Aetus wasn't sure; the only memory he had was of the beautiful woman that had joined him in his solitude, his isolation, for her own reasons. The fact that they had spent most of their time together naked, allowing their more primal instincts to take them elsewhere. For the Blackwood god, Afrodíti had been an indulgence he hadn't quite expected. Throughout their relationship over the last few days, Aetus had felt something rekindle within himself; an emotion, a warmth that slowly, inexorably filled his heart.

And so, the couple would find themselves sitting upon the porch, a chair for the both of them, waiting for the sun to break across the horizon, ushering in the new day --Aetus murmuring a prayer to Mendelia, the goddess of the Sun within his own pantheon. A flicker of power rolled from his tongue as stood, striding down to the grass --there was a small stone circle that he stood in the center of; each stone held singular glyphs carved into them. As if this were a cue, the sun broke the darkness; a sort of false dawn coloring the sky a dull pink; clouds parted as the heat from the sun warmed all it touched. Rays of light touched his naked form, the sun bathing him in its warming embrace. Soft wind tousled his dark hair, his body braced for the gentle kiss.

There were eight stones, buried into the ground, placed equal distance apart from each other.

The glyphs started to brighten from some inner light, power crackling around them as the stones began to warm as well. A few seconds longer, sparks arcing from the stones to Aetus and back again. A pressure could be felt within his head, and perhaps given Afrodíti's own divinity, she would feel the same pressure though to a lesser extent, if at all, then it vanished.

Aetus's body had been tense, all the hairs on his body standing on end with the faint power that flowed through him, until this point of release. The pressure, to him, had been intense at the last few seconds before dissipating, the stones funneling the power to the surrounding earth; the power of both himself and the sun being used to keep his own isolated pocket dimension stable.

The ice of his blue gaze had long since melted beneath the warmth of her affection and so, as they met hers, they held an inner light; a smile tugging at the edges of his lips. He strode back up the porch, his fingers brushing against the bare flesh of her own hand --a crackle of faint power coming from the touch, a residue of the small ritual just performed.

A ritual that was, ultimately, useless as Mendelia had long since turned her gaze from this world. It often left him feeling melancholic, thinking about the goddess, but for once, the warmth of Mendelia and her Sun touched him as he stared down at the sitting form of his companion, the smile splitting his face.

Time, and his own Fate, meant nothing to him as of this moment; allowing the warmth to spread through him.

He felt more real, more solid, as if the Aetus from before was nothing but a fragment, a piece of a much greater whole. His presence was subtle, tugging at the senses, and other times felt as if it was a tsunami coming to crash down and drown those it caught within its currents.

'I have brought us back to reality, to once more stand within the currents of time and to be at mercy of Fate once more. While I enjoy your company, I can imagine you have other duties to begin with, as I do, though you are allowed to stay,' his voice was deep, calm, no longer distant and cold; his tone carrying an openness to the words that hadn't been there before.

She didn’t stop her heart against whatever desire grew between them, instead, it raced through her veins like wildfire and ignited an even bigger fire within her core, her muscles tightening around him as if they welcomed him home. Why were their bodies like two puzzle pieces fitting together? Every part of her moulded into his so seamlessly it took her to another world, one where she didn’t care about time, about sins, about angels or demons. One where her moans were the only thing that resonated in the thick air around him, laced with their passion, their frenzied pants, their breathless whispers. She forgot everything and let her body talk for her; the thrusts were slow at first, teasing them both with the sweet promise of release, but it got faster, harsher, quicker, fingers dug into skin until they drew blood, clasped around hair, traced up and down skin in such a frantic manner until she didn’t know what to do with herself.

When their lips met once more, it unlocked an animalistic need in her, her mouth welcoming the tip of his tongue with her own fight, twisting her fingers deeper into his hair, pulling him closer though it was physically impossible. She could feel what he felt as he poured his emotions into her mouth and down her throat, enjoying the lingering taste he left behind. When they parted and her eyes met his gaze, her orbs glowed with need, not surprised to find that his eyes mirrored the same heavenly desire.

Heavenly.

The harsher the thrusts got, the more he invoked an uncontrollable need in her tightening womanhood, covering his length in her sweet, sweet juices. Her thighs shook as he continued to push her onto the edge of this cliff they were both dangerously dancing on, and when she could no longer hold it in, she felt her release pouring from her, like the rain and thunder outside. She panted and gasped as her core pulsated around him, her heart hammering against her chest, ready to push past the skin that trapped it. Her spine curled forward and toes curled deliciously, body still trembling with her ongoing release. How long had it been since she had last let go? She didn’t even want to remember, she wanted to lock away the picture of the man in front of her right now, lifting her head finally to look at him, cheeks painted red as loose strands of hair stuck to the sweat on her skin, framing her face.

"I'm so glad you're here," Aphrodite said.
"War is coming. Bloodshed is inevitable. So there's really only one thing to do."

Aetus felt her warmth, the soft folds of her womanhood welcoming his own girth within as a hand moved down the small of her back; feeling the firm muscle beneath the soft flesh that burned against his own impassioned skin. His breathing was deep, letting out a soft groan of pleasure as he filled her, the hard member throbbing as he felt the heat within, as he felt the tightness around him. His lips kissing along the soft curve of her throat her head rolled back.

The old god felt his body give into hers; felt himself give into that primal need, that lust that so thundered through his veins; flooded his body and made him ache with pleasure. He felt his arms drop to cup her ass to lift her body slightly as he began to thrust into her, his mouth leaving hers finding a breast, sucking at the nipple that his tongue quickly made hard; His teeth pulled softly at the hard nipple as his hands squeezed with satisfaction.

He felt his own eyes closing, allowing the heat of their bodies, of their lust for one another, guide him; to spur him on, all conscious thought forgotten in his insatiable need for her.

With each thrust up, as each thrust pushed himself deeper inside Afrodíti, it was as if a dam had begun to burst free; each thrust another crack in the foundation until it gave way. The gentle light from the various candles, including the fire, began to grow in intensity before dimming; the house seeming to breathe in accordance with their own passionate, laborious breathing as their bodies moved against each other.

Aetus had forgotten how good it felt to let go, to relinquish control. His mouth left her breasts to find her own again, allowing his pleasure to be known to her as he kissed her; tongue coaxing her lips to part once more as the pink appendage found hers, stroking it with need.

Thunder rolled across the sky, barely heard over the goddess riding his ****.

She realised the change in the air around them but hadn’t noticed when it had taken place; she wasn’t as observant as she usually was because she had let her guard down, finding it hard to swallow her slowly unwinding comprehension at the situation before her. The smile on her lips widened at her own thoughts; Aetues was a situation indeed.

He was strong and achingly handsome, and his words pulled at her heartstrings, biting her bottom lip when he takes her empty glass to place it on the table, finally taking his place next to her. She was happy and relieved to know his body radiated the same heat as her, scorching her, branding her, and when he pulled her onto his lap, she didn’t hesitate. Actually, the transition was easy, because it was natural, lips moulding with his, tongue dancing with his, and body fitting into his as if they were made for each other.

One night.

She wanted one night to unwind, to just let go and be free of responsibilities. She gave into the violent crackle of lust and bit his bottom lip, her arms coming to rest over his shoulders, the action bringing their bodies closer, forcing her chest to press against his, and his length to grind against her warmth.

Yes. God, yes.

Her tongue continued to penetrate his mouth, and she had selfishly stopped conversing, wanting the release that was slowly building up to be dealt with. After all, they had the whole night to talk; of houses, of her, of him, of past lovers, of time, and fate.

She began to rock her hips slowly, closing her eyes so she could travel to other dimensions, other worlds filled with breaking boundaries. Unable to restrain herself, she opened her eyes and pulled back, her breathless pants giving way to emerald orbs to dilate with this unearthly desire to be filled, to embrace what she wanted, no longer limiting herself. It was scary the way he had described her, but it had liquified her, knowing he would feel her, her folds and warmth telling.

His movements were subconscious, his glass raising to meet hers, 'To new ventures,' his smile mirrored hers; the glacial hues melting beneath her gaze. As close as they were, Aetus could feel her warmth as something otherworldly; a different kind of heat than what the fire offered. He sat the glass down.

The goddess' comment made him laugh, however, 'I shall never offer to build another pale, pink house so long as our fates are crossed.'

Aetus, despite detaching himself from his own responsibilities, could see the swirl of time around his guest; could feel the pull of the endless fates surrounding her. He swallowed hard, unconsciously, knowing that he was being selfish in this moment; in allowing himself to indulge in her beauty, in her company.

A moment of weakness, but he knew that once he had accepted the invitation so many months ago there would be no going back.

A fact he savored.

'I can promise you that we will be undisturbed for quite some time, so have no fear of any competition,' he said as he picked his cup up and took a long drink from it before setting it down. 'You are as beautiful as you are powerful, and despite being burdened with godhood, you are not insufferable, entirely.'

His eyes glittered with a dark desire; it had been so long since Aetus had been moved in such a way and the young god could feel her own desire. The storm continued to rage outside with no sign of slowing down; rain splashed against the windows, thunder rumbled as lightning **** against the dark clouds.

Perhaps in response to this, his body moved on its own towards hers; his hand moving to free hers of its burden, setting it next to his own-which stood empty. His lips met hers in this motion, his hands -once free- sliding up the softness of her thighs to pull her legs around his waist; the large shirt hiking itself up as he repositioned her to fit against his body better. He noted absently that perhaps she had positioned herself so on purpose, but the thought was lost as their lips would move against each other. His hands braced himself, one upon the cushion and the other upon the arm of the couch.

The hand on the cushion moved to her lower back, pulling her towards him; the semi-hard **** beneath his pants pressing against the naked warmth of her own sex. He moaned softly against her lips at feeling her against him- a feeling he had longed for.

The shadows of the fire splayed against their skin and their surroundings.

His partner was dangerous, and he courageous.

His thoughts hung around her, like the soft tendrils of her hair, but they didn’t suffocate her and as she observed the soft wrinkle between his brows, she noticed the fleeting anger. It came from nowhere and went back to the darkness, replaced by a soft gaze, one she wasn’t used to, coming from him.

Aetus was a lonely man, the pictures that hung around his house and his desolate land a testament to that loneliness. It wasn’t just his land however, it showed even in the way they conversed. He was charming, that couldn’t be argued against but the awkwardness in his laugh highlighted that he hadn’t laughed with many women, that he didn’t hang around people often; he lacked certain social skills.

Afroditi was the opposite; she was a social butterfly, she knew how to flirt, she knew how to make conversation, and she knew how to entice and seduce men. It came with her curse, it was her downfall, but she didn’t hate her allure right now; instead, she revelled in it. There was something about the way he spoke of bringing her mindless thoughts alive; it made her stomach clench, the knot that had formed tightening when she looked around the room. Perhaps he would indulge in her whims and actually build her a house.

Her body warmed but it wasn’t because of the sparkling orange fumes a few feet away; hell, she would stay warm even if they opened the windows and invited the rain and wind in. The heat came from somewhere else, it was primal, and it scorched her skin. When he spoke of women coming and going, she found, to her surprise, something deep in her chest constricted.

She didn’t like it.

The emotion was foreign and unwelcome, and she couldn’t wrap her head entirely around it.

She thanked him with an incline of her head when he handed her the drink; it was unbeknownst to her that she mirrored his movements, and when he raised the glass and toasted to her new house, a flush painted over her cheeks before a beaming smile captured her full lips.

She glowed.

A house would be wonderful.

A house here, especially.

“To my new house,” she raised her glass, letting it clink with his before gulping the drink down, having not realised how dry her throat had been, welcoming the chilled liquid into her stomach, “and hopefully the only pale pink house that will stand here,” she put extra stress on ‘only’, her eyes brightening with an emotion she was all too familiar with, letting it cloud her emerald orbs.

Staying here tonight would be so dangerous.

But she didn’t care right now, she was having too much fun. Taking initiative, she poured drinks once more, raising her glass, “to new ventures,” she smiled a dangerous and delicious smile as she raised her arm, waiting.

"I'm so glad you're here," Aphrodite said.
"War is coming. Bloodshed is inevitable. So there's really only one thing to do."
"Uh. . . and that is?" Annabeth ventured.
"Why, have tea and chat, obviously."

Aetus watched in relative silence as she dressed; the cracking of wood and the gentle purr of the fire -along with his own gentle breathing- broke that silence until she would speak again. His eyes gazing at the soft curves of her body, admiring the way her body moved as she shrugged the dress off and allowed the shirt to take its place; admiring the way her muscles moved beneath the soft flesh.

A powerful woman indeed.

The Blackwood noted the shadows in her eyes; the weariness of godhood, of being worshiped. Of the strain of chaining oneself to the mortals whims. How fickle they were. His eyes grew hard, his body tensing with some deep-rooted anger, but the tension was gone almost as soon as it came.

'I shall have to give your house some thought, then,' he said, after the anger dissipated from his body; his eyes holding a more gentle gaze. An interesting concept, having another live here, but was that not his intention? A home away from home? Had he not extended his gift to his own family? Only a few had came to treat with him. Why could he not allow others to make use of this realm? He exhaled slowly, allowing his eyes to meet hers finally as she sat beside him.

'They all are,' he said simply, to her inquiry about the painting.

Aetus had hundreds, if not thousands, of paintings scattered throughout this house and his family home. His family allowed him this activity, though not like they had much choice. He had not seen, or heard, from his family in such a long time, he feared he was the last of his family.

A hermit with no legacy; just an empty realm, surrounded by his own devices. How long had he been absent from the world and its machinations? He shook his head, knowing he did not care. But was that not why he had invited this woman here? To show him all that he has missed? The Blackwood of Fate and Time had but to allow his mind wander to understand all that he had missed. Instead, however, his eyes tracked the rivers of time that flowed and eddied about her person.

So many mortals...

'If I had as many women coming and going as you say, I would have a lot more pale, pink houses.' He said, allowing the humour to touch his eyes. Since his cousin had left, her mind fragmented from grief, Aetus had not felt such warmth; the companionship of another had eluded him for some time now, his imprisonment Aetus' own design, but a necessary one.

Pulling himself out of his melancholy, the young Blackwood gave her a smile at her gift, 'A fine gift; one I am humbled by.'

He inclined his head in appreciation and stood, walking into his kitchen and procured two glasses. Aetus returned to his guest within a moment of having done so, setting them down on the coffee table that rest just in front of the sofa upon which they sat. Opening the bottle for them, Aetus would pour the liquid, allowing it to fill the glasses halfway before setting the bottle down and sealing it once more.

'Perhaps a toast to your new house, yes?'

“Maybe you’ll build me one so I could visit more often,” again, her voice is curtained by a thin veil of humour, lifting her brows in a playful manner as her gaze followed him around the house, a soft air brushing against her soft skin from behind her, having probably snuck in through the little cracks in the edges of the window. She continued as he added some wood to the fire, not letting her gaze stray from him, “I’d like a pale pink house,” now, a smile curled the sides of her lips up, “and each room should have a balcony.”

Her voice carried an air of conviction, and she spoke with confidence, “and I’d like a room just to paint in, maybe it could overlook a river so I could paint the sunsets, maybe even the sunrises.”

It was nice to dream, but it was nicer to just relax. The past few months had been hard on her family, she had blessed her many soldiers going into battle despite her fathers wishes not to, and was paying for it now; the battle between the two countries was still ongoing, after four months and it didn’t seem like it would stop anytime soon, and though Zeus claims he will not partake in this war, Afroditi knew he favoured the opposing side, the side he shouldn’t be on.

She had noticed the paintings hanging on the walls and when he retrieves the clothes for her, she takes them gracefully, standing and waving her hand to one of the portraits, “is that your work?”

A tilt of her head and she wraps her fingers around the straps on her shoulders, pulling them to the side to let the dress drop to the floor and curl around her ankles. She didn’t wear anything under the dress, because quite simply, she didn’t need to; she was so much more comfortable just wearing nothing in all actuality, but there were customs that perhaps, she should follow as she wasn’t in her own house and wasn’t entirely aware of what the man standing before her was and wasn’t comfortable with.

When she pulls the shirt over her head to find it reaches her thighs, she decides there is no need for the pants and places the item over the arm of the chair before taking her seat once more, next to him, leaning to the side so she’s facing him.

“And here I thought you had women coming in and going out as you pleased,” she enjoyed the jokes she exchanged with the man for she knew that his tongue was as witty as hers and she enjoyed his more warm and relaxed form, laughing with him when he joked about his family. She had only met one family member, a cousin of Aetus’, who had taken an appreciation to her, so much so that he had suggested if things didn’t turn out so well with Aetus he would be more than grateful to take her out.

“I brought you something by the way.”

She waves her hand and a bottle of Ouzito appears on the table.

“Now all we need . . . are glasses.”

[Howardini: awhh, thank you so much xD you're too sweet ♥]

(For our guest, anything <3)

As his guest entered the house, he closed the door and followed her, directing to the heart of his home. He stoked the fire gently with rather long staff; the end he was using to poke the slowly dying glows. After a minute, his free hand moved to the basket that held a few pieces of wood for such an occasion. 'It's a bit empty for now,' he murmured, glancing at her from the peripherals of his eye; he kept one eye on the fire as he carefully placed the few pieces of wood into the pit, feeding the fire. 'I've been meaning to add more houses but there hasn't been any reason to.'

He straightened himself as he finished with the wood; rubbing his hands to rid himself of the debris. Aetus looked her up and down, sizing her up and nodded to himself, striding confidently away to another room. He came back some minutes later with dry clothes, simple in make, but clothes he was sure would fit. His own legs were covered with soft leather pants which fit loosely around his legs and ankles, hanging low on his hips, but kept his upper body bare.

Her own clothes were soft cotton: a simple shirt that had been dyed a goldenrod yellow with a darker forest green color for the pants.

'They should fit,' he spoke confidently, the ice in his voice warmer. 'They haven't been worn, I promise, but I have more sisters than brothers.'

Aetus sat across from the sofa she had alighted upon; his own seat he took across from his guest. A wooden table sat low to the floor, at the same level as the seats in which they were resting upon, shone in the new light. The dark room gave way to the growing light from the fire, a few floor sconces were lit. Wax from the candles on the sconces seemed to come up from the floor like stalagmites, connecting with the sconce itself as the wicks burned. A few table candles were lit on the table between them as well as on the wall-sconces.

The sconces were perhaps one of the few pieces of metal that decorated his house save the obvious nails needed; all the furniture had been carved from single pieces of wood or fitted together without the aid of nails. Aetus had made the sconces as well, twisting the iron into odd shapes.

It was obvious which ones were his first try, as the room they were currently in, were simple in nature and slightly warped. The others in the house were better made, oft made in the forms of an animal or twisted into a vague humanoid shape. He held one in his own room that twisted and forked like a tree. That was incomplete still.

The pictures in the house were all hand-painted by him as well. It was clear he didn't have much talent in that regard, but when one had all the time he could ask for, why not?

'An empty village for an empty world for an empty man,' he sighed, shaking his head. 'Perhaps one day my family will flock towards this haven, so far separated from the dealings of mortals that they needn't worry about their own egos.'

He chuckled, a warm sound that sent the air into vibrations.

It was strange to hear the light-hearted humor wrap itself around the man's tongue, Aetus was a man with broad shoulders, and a face that seemed to be angry always, so it made sense the emotion sounded foreign to her, but Afroditi was pleased that his sharp tongue didn’t rest against hers. The woman’s green gaze scanned the area, seemingly unbothered by the heavy shower, forcing her dress to cling to her salacious curves. There was a glow that seemed to reflect off of the surface of her skin; skin that seemed so delicate and yet it withstood everything. At last, she moves forward slowly, her big orbs taking everything in, and as she enters she feels the temperature rise, the fire that burned casting a light orange glow on the furniture.

The house was warm and inviting, to her surprise. Sitting on the wooden floor, she felt the night air tickle the hem of her white, and now sheer dress against her ankles, before tilting her head up to look at the man. It was at that precise moment she realised that she had never really given much attention to Aetus’ features, and now that she was doing so, it dawned on her that the man was attractive, in a rough and rigid way that she actually enjoyed. But, it wasn’t just his face that impressed her, it was his body too, built to fight, built to protect what was his, built to demolish kingdoms.

The dry night air slipped between the fabric of her dress and her skin, gliding along her legs and torso, as she arched her back to lean against a sofa, lifting her right leg to rest over her left. Her right arm also lifted as she leaned a little to the side, so she could rest her head against her hand. Pieces of dark hair were stuck to her face, the water from the rain gliding down her temples, and along her chin, until finally dripping onto her chest. Afroditi embodied a beauty that no other woman did, she was sexy, but without trying. As she listens to the rise and fall of her chest, she closes her eyes and hums a hum of approval.

“I’m upset you didn’t invite me earlier, I like this place.”

"I'm so glad you're here," Aphrodite said.
"War is coming. Bloodshed is inevitable. So there's really only one thing to do."
"Uh. . . and that is?" Annabeth ventured.
"Why, have tea and chat, obviously."

Lost within the flows of time, of each second that held each held their own universe of possibilities; of opportunities lost or taken, Aetus was unaware of the woman; but even this was false in that his conscious mind was unaware of what his subconscious mind knew; the mind that Saw everything.

A few seconds past for her when she finished speaking, a few seconds that seemed to span entire centuries for him as he pulled himself from his reverie.

His eyes opened slowly, looking upon the goddess with lids half-closed, 'I prayed for a beautiful woman and instead they sent me you...' His words held the same lightness that hers had, though perhaps ill-practiced. The tone almost uncomfortable coming from his lips given his usual demeanor of a glacier.

The old god's head tilted to the side as his eyes opened fully, taking in the woman moreso than before; enjoying the beauty that had decided to grace him. She stirred a hunger in him still, a certain fire that made his body long for her own; an ache that demanded to be sated but he knew it could not be done. A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

'The rain should pass within a couple of hours, though it could go on all day.' The broad shoulders shrugged before he pushed the few strands of hair out of his face, slinging water back from the wet tendrils. 'I have a fire going within, if you'd care to join me. I was... unsure of your arrival but I keep spare clothing of all kinds. Unexpected guests are not uncommon.'

He frowned, knowing that he had invited her here to his own little world and that she wasn't necessarily unexpected. Again, his shoulders rolled in a shrug in answer to his thoughts. The Blackwood sighed softly and made his way towards the house, the faintest of frowns creasing his face as he felt the rain leave his body. He opened the door, watching the woman, taking in the grace of her movements; the bounce of her breasts and the sway of her hips. Movements accentuated moreso by the dress that clung so wetly to her body.

What seemed like a few days to the Goddess of beauty and youth were a few months that had passed; lacklustre days droned on, though she had met her mother a few times to check up on the woman, and to learn of her father’s condition. Apparently, her disappearance had caused more than a headache, and had tousled the otherwise -pristine- Kingdom of Zeus. The woman was completely oblivious to her brother’s whereabouts or plans, but she didn’t have an unearthly desire to find out either - instead, she had travelled. She had come across mortals who talked of dreams and aspirations, who hadn’t seen wildlife like she had - or the simple wonder of infinite power. For a moment, perhaps, she had wanted to force herself to discover what Aetus had so passionately poured from his heart, considering of course, it was still in tact.

When he had sent an invitation, Afroditi had been both pleased, and overwhelmed with excitement; the man’s army, his little game had opened up a whole entire world inside her mind, of what his Kingdom would be like. She did fear that it wouldn’t meet her expectations, though as she ventured through the woods and admired the tall trees, the animals that were far too beautiful and far too large to devour with eyes alone, she was delighted to find it went beyond what she had thought it would be. Everything captivated her, and though she hated the heavy rain, she allowed the torture of it, just to stare at all the plants, the colour that radiated from the land, and the animals, a moment longer.

When a bird, with wings that served as a large pavilion flew down, to shelter her from the heavy torrent, she looks up in acknowledgement, warmth radiating in her green gaze for a moment, before progressing toward the house he had described in his letter. The white dress she had worn was now glued to her skin, putting on show her salacious curves, and large, plump breasts.

Her tan skin had remained the same only glowing more, through her appearance hadn’t; she was a different woman, to the one he had first met, and the broken figment of his former wife, that he had latched onto the last time. Today, Aetus would see Afroditi for who she was, simply because she allowed it. She had a wide face, a perky, small nose, and large eyes with thick brows and high cheekbones framing it all. Her plump lips part as she inhales, a strand of wet hair swept across her forehead, another hanging on the left side of her cheek. The rest hung in thick waves, stopping at her waist and as she comes to the house, the bird still flying atop of her, she smiles sweetly.

When she first tilts her head up, she finds Aetus in the ****, befitting as that was how he had met her, and **** her head to the side; he was relaxed by the rain, his muscles visibly easing. Afro didn’t miss his impressive physique, but for the time being, she forced herself to overlook that.

“Is this how you welcome all the women you invite back here?”

Her voice is flirty and light, a tad humorous as she waits for him to open his eyes, standing with a hand on her hip, the other resting above her forehead.

"I'm so glad you're here," Aphrodite said.
"War is coming. Bloodshed is inevitable. So there's really only one thing to do."

A storm raged outside; it was natural, of course, unless one of the Blackwood Gods was exacting their fury upon some poor fool mortal, or their own family. But, it was natural. That's all that really mattered to these mortals, and to the man who watched the storm from a window with eyes the color of glaciers and just as cold. But, even had this been a storm of the supernatural kind, this man wouldn't be very perturbed by its presence. He would merely sigh, like he did now, misting up the glass, and turn his head away, like now. As was usual, those cold, seemingly infinite eyes would stare at nothing; his ears twitching lightly at the patter of rain against the roof and the windows of the house. Slowly, those eyes would close, the body of the man relaxing against the wooden chair. And so, he slept.

The house was fairly simple on the outside; a simple, two story house. A front door, windows in the appropriate places, and a back door. From the outside, it looked homely, even going as far as to say cozy and warm. In a few aspects, it was. A chimney could be seen with smoke billowing from its top as a fire raged within at all times, it seemed: even in the heart of summer. But, despite this, the inside of the house stayed a warm that seeped into the bones, loosened the muscles, and drained the weariness from the body, replacing it with a comfortable exhaustion that leaked into the thoughts, the mind, and lulled it to sleep. A house that was unusual, but wasn't out of place in the surrounding forest; it didn't protrude or announced itself. It merely was.

Within the house, save for the fireplace, it wasn't quite as simple as the outside but there wasn't any extravagance to it. With five rooms on bottom and three more on top, with a basement and attic, it was fairly large. It was simply dressed with hand-made furnishings and cutlery --plates, cups, bowls, etc. Some had a few spots of a dark brown from the blood of their maker, who hadn't quite got the hang of carving with a knife. But, while this was all simple and fit in with everything around it, there was one thing that stood out like a sore thumb.

The man who rested in the wooden chair opened an eye, listening to the ticking of a clock he had made, one of the first few, but this one had seven hands, instead of two or three. The largest one didn't even more for the most part, as it represented years, though it did have small clicks as the second most largest, representing months moved, though it moved hardly as well; the third largest, representing days, moved a bit faster still; the next largest, hours, moving even faster. The second to last moved even faster being minutes; the last moved the fastest as it represented seconds. The clocks face didn't have numbers as the man didn't need them, but it was four different colors, each one a different color, each color representing the seasons of the year.

The man stared back out the window, the breath he had uttered long-since gone, both eyes opened as they stared, watching the rain run down the glass; within the window he stared at himself, though he avoided his gaze.

The man himself was fairly large: broad shouldered, deep in the chest, lean with hard muscle that slightly bulged; long in the legs and arm, though not an awkward lanky man by any means. Dark stubble grew from his face though it didn't hide the strong jawline and the slightly cleft chin. His features were sharp, angular with high cheekbones and somewhat deeply set eyes. His arms were tattooed with chains that wrapped around the arms, curling along the back of his shoulders and neck. The man was physically attractive, no doubt, but his demeanor put most women off, though some braved it, if only for one night. He didn't care if they stayed or went, though he might have a hand in why they left him alone or why they went away after a few nights, but it was only rarely did he allow himself to meddle, to steer the mortal women in another direction that wasn't his. And so, he lived alone.

Aetus Blackwood, the God of Time and the Blackwood of Fate, sat there, naked, in his house as he stared out into raging storm, pondering a pointless thought before he sighed again, misting the glass and got up. He walked to the front door and stood out on the porch, listening to the rumble of thunder and the pitter-patter of rain. With a few steps more, he was out in the rain, his long, black hair being plastered to his head, neck, face, and shoulders. His eyes closed and he lost himself in fury of the storm, body relaxing to the steady fall of water against his muscles.

Beyond
« Reply #1 on: December 22, 2015, 11:06:36 pm »
The Land of Beyond is vast, stretching over the horizon; as far as the eye can see.

To the east, there are hills and mountain, great fingers of earth that stretch limitless into the sky; piercing those blue heavens with white-capped nails of ice. Great and ancient forests roll at the feet of these mountains, like a giant, green carpet. Though, it was more as if the trees were bowing before those mountains in honor of their massive peaks.

The flora and fauna were much the same as Earth's own, though with slight differences in nature and appearance. The great jungle cats were as big as horses, insects the size of dogs; birds with a wingspan of two men soared above the tree tops. Dragons were a real threat, but most sentient creatures like them stayed within their caves or nests; sometimes even burrows deep within the earth. The wyvern's, cousins of these intelligent beasts, were pack animals and often attacked humans, among the other races that were scattered about Beyond.

To the west, were endless seas of grass and plains; buffalo and other beasts of that nature were wild and untamed, though some brave farmers and raiders often herded these beasts, taming them and creating a financial gain out of them. Instead of a carpet of trees as tall as most hills, there was grass that reached the height of a man; clumps of trees littered this sea of grass. The predators here were more of the spider and snake variety, though plains rats and other rodents dwelled. Spiders were bigger than some dogs, the snakes great leviathans that could swallow three men and still be hungry; rats were even larger still. Wild dogs hunt in coordinated packs, dominating the fields mostly; territory being marked out between them and the spiders.

To the south, there were more human population, though it was cold and the sun almost never appeared above the endless sky of clouds. The mountains here were harsh and cruel, often used as tests to pass into manhood. Creatures of unknown origin stalk these mountains, and great valleys offer amazing ambushing opportunity. These humans dressed for the cold all year round, fur coats and boots made from the mountain cats and beasts. Wolves stalked these lands, each as tall as a man and twice as heavy. Dragons dwelt here as well -they dwelled everywhere within Beyond, especially along the farthest reaches of society where human taint has yet to even be imagined there. There was one great city, a fortress carved from the face of a mountain and protected the people of the South readily from unknown creatures. Smaller villages, as these people were mostly nomadic in nature, were huts made from mud; fire baked clay and twigs; trees felled at great risk. A few 'tribes' have found comfort beneath the earth, families building homes into small hills, or expanding upon caves.

To the north, there were even more people; human civilization having reached a peak and spreading. It was warmer, almost unbearably hot during the summer times. The people here were more stationary and enjoyed the company of their neighbors, often celebrating and having festivals as any major threat, save dragons, were all but culled by their warriors; an army unrivaled by any save the tribes of the South, though they are far from uniting any time soon. The architecture was impeccable, the richest of the lands having giant homes that took up whole blocks; the poorest living in crudely made huts that sprawled outward of the Great Capitol of Beyond. While these people are comfortable and soft, there would be no denying their skill with engineering or martial prowess as all fell beneath the sword of one family: the Ramrowan's. Small towns and villages dominated most of the North with roads often patrolled by the royal army. Rivers ran through this land abundantly, ponds and lakes no less than their running counterpart.

Beyond is a land of beautiful life and abundant with it, the air crisp and clean; the very atmosphere soft, peaceful: almost serene with its passiveness. But there was a darkness within the heart of this land, it was just a matter of finding it...
