Rafferty frowned at the proffered clothing, sensing the magic within the fabric. The glacial blue eyes moved from the cloak to the vampire lord, Rafferty's expression unreadable. He took the cloak without remark, though waited to put the cloak on.

The Redcap had little to fear from the humans, having spent centuries among them. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. Rafferty's own magicks allowed him a certain... anonymity from divination, to the point he had long since stopped looking over his shoulder. Beyond that, the vampire lord's own expansive evil and power would no doubt cloak Rafferty's own presence. The many years among his food source had taught him well.

'I am surprised to hear you shy away from such things, given your rather extravagant display of revealing yourself. Or was there another purpose that I am unaware of?'

The summoning of the dullahan-driven carriage had elicited a sharp hiss from Rafferty; a noise that sent the bones about his person bristling in a clatter of noise, the rattling of bones like haunted cackling. The redcap sent a snarl at the headless horseman before taking a seat within.

As he entered the carriage, blue eyes noted the lack of a corporeal form of the vampire lord. Rafferty was weary about entering such enclosed spaces, and would have said something if it would have done any good. In truth, the redcap just about parted ways with the newly awakened vampire to avoid the close proximity.

Seated, Rafferty placed the cloak next to him, folded in half; the burlap sack sat atop the cloak before too long and he wrapped the cloak around the sack. He murmured as his fingers wrapped a string around the clothing to secure it. The knot done, he allowed a forefinger to circle the knot of the strong, as well as 'opening', murmuring to himself all the while. Bringing the aforementioned finger to hover above the knot, his thumbnail came to puncture the flesh of his first finger, a single droplet of blood allowed to escape to hit the string.

Rafferty had to give up some of his own tricks at this point, or risk being rude. He was not a strong practitioner, though he could summon up some quick, dirty magic; the redcap's strength was more in rituals, of conjuring and bindings.

He had briefly thought that his meanderings had called this ancient spirit forth, that the human had just been weak enough to fall for its call. Rafferty was protected from possession, from being charmed. Those fetish items that clung and pierced his body were years and years of research, of dead ends and rabbit holes. Even to this day he was seeking old relics. The vampire lord had been something of an accidental find, and Rafferty was thankful that the human had been around to satisfy whatever immediate hunger that the vampire lord felt.

'I appreciate the gift,' Rafferty said as he looked up from the burlap sack, his eyes were too much like ice for the faint turn of his lips to mean anything. He would be a fool to ignore advice, especially if the being who could turn the moon red was speaking those words.

Rafferty was not scared of being found. He was scared of his secrets becoming exposed.

His aura weakened slightly as the power swelling died down. His red eyes looked to the north and realized that was the direction in which he and his new friend would find the vampires heart. The lord conjured up a fine dark green velvet cape wrapping him up completely and hiding his full appearance. He also conjured the same type robes for the small creature. Handing them to Rafferty with slow movements.

" we are monsters so we need to conceal that I feel. Most of the time humans tend to not take kindly to us roaming free like them." He had a sharpness to his tone when he spoke about humans. With a sly gesture of his hand a carriage appeared with a dullahan driver. " humans will see us as their kind when wearing these cloaks. It is a filthy feeling, but I feel grand divine power somewhere in these lands. We need to avoid that."

Vic mortiz would step into the carriage and take his seat in the pitch black escort. He no longer could be seen, but his presence could be felt. An adventure is definitely what his old bones needed. And this redcap seems to know more then he let on since he wasn't trying to steal or kill at this very moment.

Rafferty watched as the vampire lord did... something; the weather voiced its pain at being stirred by the evil creature that so bent the weather, nay, the astral body that dominated the night sky. It made Rafferty feel a hunger of a different sort: greed. It was short-lived, greed being a beast not even he wanted to deal with. Not anymore. He was a proud creature, perhaps moreso than his fellow kin; his need to constantly saturate, to bathe, pools of blood no longer held sway over his mind.

No, Rafferty was free, though it was a broken freedom. He did not need to kill so often, to wash himself in blood; that feeling a gnawing hunger now, a restless wolf pacing in a cage. He could feel that the hunger grew; a pounding in his ears that grew louder with the days that passed. The heartbeat within the burlap sack seemed to laugh at him, mocking him with his sense of entitlement; as if he were any better than the rest of his kind.

He stared down at his left hand, the right holding the sack; the faint rattle of bones carrying on the wind, drowned out by the gathering storm. The nails were long, sharp; a few broken and jagged. All were gently stained a dark, deep red, almost black.

'Pay... tribute, Lord?', Taking his eyes away from his hand, Rafferty frowned. 'As well, few places in this world can be called villages anymore. You may gorge yourself to your hearts content, Lord. I would rather starve than share.'

The Redcap had been a solitary hunter for many centuries, a self-imposed exile to be certain, but secrets could only be kept by three if two were dead. Vampires were hard to kill, and Rafferty was not so sure a vampire lord, perhaps even a vampire god, could be killed by the likes such as he.

Better to destroy it than let it come into another's hand...

Rafferty smiled, showing too many teeth.

The recap speaking seemed to hit the vampire with little emotion to follow. The sack he wore had a much better tone then he. With a soft sigh he looked to the bright white moon with a quiet menace. The old vampire would stand again and let his arms fall to his side. A soft rumble in the earth began emitting from him as the epicenter. He smirked when looking at the moon as he addressed the redcap.

" Well young master Rafferty, since I ate your meal maybe I can repay the kindness."

The moon. So full. So beautiful. Looked like it began to scream in pain. The light it was emitting began to turn red and dark clouds began to flow into the sky. Thunder began rumbling in the distance as the moon kept getting darker. Soon black bolts of lightning would strike the prairie and the screams of the dead could be heard. With a long and deep breathe the aura of the vampire became visible with an agonizing feeling of pain. All of which one could see this old figures bones snap and break and reform. His power seemed endless like the bottom of the ocean.

"How about a hunt for old times sake? I'm sure we can find a village near by who would love to.pay tribute and you can let out your fears. "

His tone has changed, almost like a feral beast had been put to sleep and a waking God had been summoned. The recap didn't know that this was only one part of a completed vessel. However that is a story for later. The vampire begun sniffing the air while looking for a nearby town. There was no rain but the thunder kept growing as Vic Mortiz's blood began to boil and flow.

"Soon my body will wake from this nightmare. I can feel my heart isn't too far from my castle. Maybe a couple lands away. Who knows for sure. But the heart keeps even omnipotence unaware of my movements.

Between the time they had crossed the castle's threshold, the Wild Fae picked up a burlap sack, which was slung over a shoulder; an evil radiated from within, pulsing faintly. For the vampire lord, it would sound as if a heartbeat, the pulse a faint cry; A cry that was echoed by hundreds of others, fainter, ever fainter, until that first beat pulsed once more with its cry. It was a cry that had lost meaning to time, the emotion and passion within it gone and broken. It was a pitiless sound, hollow and empty. The beating would have been hypnotic if not for that emptiness. The burlap sack was woven with enchantments as well, warding patterns sewn into the heavy fabric; the fibers of which supporting finely crafted spellwork. The sack was the red of dried blood, smelling of copper. Rafferty had spent many months making this, his proudest work save what lay inside. Even the bones upon his person had latent magic stored within, awaiting his command. Despite the magic woven through the sack, the sack itself gave off no power, or so little as to be overwhelmed by the minute amount of power within it. The sacks entire purpose was to muffle the power of what was inside.

He was no natural when it came to magic, but anyone can be persuaded with the right encouragement. Indeed, he had found men and women who taught him secrets; taught him dead and alien spells; who gave him books and resources to further his goals. There was no shortage of dark wizard and hags that needed a child or a virgin, or just a sacrifice in general.

Of course, those that helped had to die as a consequence.

Perhaps the lord vampire would enjoy it.

The idea of bringing it out around the lord of the night, of revealing this most prized possession, even hidden as it was, had seared his soul. Even now, Rafferty wanted to strike down the vampire, to run and seek solitude elsewhere. His secrets were not to be discovered by another, especially one who had a food source so close to his own. Rafferty shook his head, ignoring the rise of paranoia and animal panic; to ease that hunger pacing with boredom so, the jowls of it dripping with anticipation. Despite his reservations, he could not leave it here, unattended, and the lord was weak. A prolonged fight would not be in Rafferty's best interest, but it could be managed. He put those thoughts out as well. The redcap had bigger things to worry about.

Survival.

Rafferty closed his eyes, lungs expanding with the fresh, crisp air of the night; the usual noise of the night had died slowly at first before silence just reigned as the two creatures of the night made their way into the trees. Before too much longer those silenced noises resumed albeit at a muted level, as if scared to offend.

'You'll forgive me once more as I find myself unable to answer. I have spent much of my time as a barkeep for a friend, in a little pocket dimension. I have been eager to leave, to gaze and graze upon the cattle,' Rafferty voice took on a husky tone, the last word bitten off. His tone was smoother, the accent not quite so thick as he spoke again, 'I have been long from this world much like you have been, though perhaps better off.'

The Wild Fae adjusted the burlap sack that had been slung across his left shoulder; the bone wristlet rattling. The sound seemed to quicken the so faint heartbeat, a spike in an otherwise dying heart, or what felt like a dying heart. But, the redcap allowed himself to lean against the tree, his arms crossed as the sack dropped rather unceremoniously at his feet. His hands lifted the beret from his golden hair, the roots shown being a dark, deep red that was almost black. He picked a few insects --- insects that Rafferty speared with a clawed forefinger, flicking it into the darkness--- and leaves off the cloth hat.

'Truth, Lord, I came here to hunt; you had feasted upon my meal and I am loathe to travel with you, loathe you. I may not have needed him such as you did, as you do, but we both have our hungers to satisfy.' His tone was matter-of-fact.

The night almost seemed to freeze in time while the vampire made his strides through the forest with the red cap. He spoke to this creature as if there wasn't any difference and ideology or race. Almost like a weird kinship in his voice. Alluring and seductive almost to the point of listening to one's favorite music. One could tell this was a vampire who has mastered all forms of its deceptions or temptations if you will .

" So this modern world... where are the monsters? All I sense are human. " his voice finally showing a bit of sorrow for this realm used to be abundant in many different forms of creatures. Their walk seeming to lead through a forest to a great plain with a single tree in the middle of it. Alddon walked up to the tree finding a broken crea..... ..... come sign.

" I wonder if you even knew these holy lands small friend..." his old bones creaked and **** as he sat under the tree looking up to the moon. His once fierce eyes soft once again. His smile created a very gentle aura causing the night creatures to echo their evening music. Insects and wolves alike able to be heard anywhere you could be in these plains.

" Have you seen any other creatures then I here lately I wonder?" The vampire lord resting against the tree began to drift in wonderland it would appear. His age definitely showing at this point.  This once filled land now brimming with vast hollowness.

Rafferty felt the presence of the vampire shift. The redcap did not enjoy the proximity the vampire had taken to him, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up in warning. He felt like a cat, puffed up and waiting for the other to make a move, but it was quickly gone as the vampire lord opened the doors, the hinges creaking with the weight as they turned; allowing the two creatures access to the rest of the castle.

He turned, following the lord into the hallway. The red cap spoke as they walked, finding his ears twitching with the old sounds of the castle. He thought he could almost hear...

'Slay you, Lord? As I have said before, it is in my nature to be alone; I merely thought this place abandoned. My only regret was allowing the human to be lured and to have done nothing.' The anger was strained, causing his accent to thicken, the hunger demanding to be heard. 'Beware a wounded animal, my ma always said, they may be weak but they can maim as readily as any beast. Regrets come and go, humans are not so rare as to be fighting over them.'

Still, Rafferty was angry. The hunger had been promised a release, promised to have been let out. The vampire brought a fairly decent point, but...

'If you would forgive my hubris, Lord, but I imagine you and I are similar in what we seek. An end to a hunger that will not end, but we both know that is not the case. Instead, I find pleasure in passing time in perfecting my hunt.' He paused, thinking a moment. 'Patience is rewarded.'

Indeed, the waning moon offered faint light to see by; the blue eyes reflecting the meager light. Rafferty knew that it had some significance in rituals, otherwise it was a rock, albeit a massive one. He lifted the beret off his head, allowing the wind to dance with the golden hair; the rings and bones clattering gently with his movements. He replaced his hat and stuffed his hands in his trousers, as he maintained his silence as the vampire enjoyed his freedom.

Vic Mortiz had a small but sly grin on his face as he searched the world for any remnants of his lost kingdom. Nothing was found of any of his past friends or followers. His eyes left the sphere to look at the red cap as he spoke. A monster in every aspect but an intelligent one was very rare. Without even a moments passing he appeared behind the goblin opening the throne rooms door. His voice heard in his old spot however. " well well well. You are a smart one."

The vampire had no ill will to the little being. He only cared that this one knew its place. He wasn't in any condition to fight and he was sure the creature knew it too. The lord began walking down the stairs as the castle began to breathe again. The moon light breaking through holes in the ceiling showing more scars and frailties of his body. The sounds of forgotten souls tortured in the halls began so softly only the best ears would catch it.

"Rafferty you are interesting.  I feel like you know you could slay me even at this very moment but you are holding back your instinct. That is a very unique quality of your kind. I used to have hordes of your kin as minions but you seem to be an apex of their class. So tell me. What is it you seek?"

The old god had finally made it out doors where the screeching of bats could be heard along with wolves howling at the full moon. The red eyes of the lord would glow with a strange power. Most have heard the tales of dracula but they were nothing compared to the origin vampire. Even though his body was weak there was a vicious nature about him. His very aura seemed to scream in agony.

" The moon is very beautiful and a dear friend of mine. It has been a long time since we dined together."

He had seemed to be lost in his own world. Has he lost his mind or is he playing a feebled man. One couldn't quite tell. All one could notice was his hunger. Something no amount of blood could feel but anyone looking at him saw exactly what he wanted.

Rafferty stared at the body with disinterest. What use did he have for a ruined corpse? It wasn't as though he could make it scream; could taste the pain in the muscles; could hear the cries as he broke bone to get to the marrow.

On second thought...

He shook his head, disregarding the body.

'I am merely showing respect to my elders,' his lips were pulled back into snarl, revealing the pearl white teeth; the canines pointed with a subtle curve towards the tip.

Rafferty dabbled in some of the magical arts, necromancy specifically. He had found ways around his kinds inability to go long periods without killing, without having to give in to that hunger that gnawed at him incessantly. He did not care for what he could not see; scrying and seeing glass were not things that interested him. The cold blue eyes watched the vampire lord walk about, seeking his item. He almost scoffed at the vampire lords question, at the waste of time. Humans were toys meant to be broken, why pretend they were anything else?

'What care does a goblin have for the humans?' Rafferty sneered at the word, goblin. 'They are toys for me to break; that is all. Some last longer than others, but they are needed for my life to continue. They are prey, not lords.'

Rafferty felt much like a wolf caught in a bear's den, to find that it had been slumbering only for it to awaken, . Still, Rafferty was a predator as much as the creature before him. His blood would not leave as easily as the humans. His muscles were relaxed, ready to be used for fight or flight. Rafferty thought perhaps if the vampire meant him harm, Rafferty would have been attacked already; the vampires sickly sweet voice did little to ease the redcaps tension, knowing that perhaps the human had been a well-timed warning.

Who would have guessed a red cap to be so polite. The vampire's gaze was soft like a mother looking at a first born baby. His small grin shown a broken red fang. Everything about this lord was inviting and almost pure temptation. He would wave his hand as the body of the traveler was flung to the red cap.

" Rafferty you say...such a kind goblin in this world is very odd. I have seen you plunder these halls a few times. You may even know them better then I anymore."

Lord Vic mortiz had his eyes quickly scanning the room as he pulled out a small crystal orb. He would gaze into to see the what has become of the world. Strange buildings and moving metal on wheels engulfed the lands. A putrid stench of waste was filling the air. The amount of people as well was boggling to him. Anyone could clearly see the Lord had been away for centuries if not thousands of years.

" Tell me Rafferty.... is man the lord of these lands now?"

His voice seemed slightly piercing. Almost like he was mad at seeing so much cattle and not a single monster in the streets. What kind of world did he awaken too. What kind of beings were these fat humans to been able to take out so many strong creatures.

Upon further inspection of the lord one could see a grotesque scar on his chest. Almost as if his rib cage exploded out of his body. His nails were long and sharp, and his hair long and thin, white like snow. He wore a cape with the emblem of a red snake in a sea. His pants tattered and dull. He was just an old man but his voice sounded like a gift from sirens.

Rafferty watched in some surprise as the slumbering man awoke in fear; the redcap's pupils dilating into slits at the exposure to the light, though perhaps the man saw nothing as the light illuminated Rafferty --standing so still as to a statue, his chest moving gently as the redcap breathed.

The wild fae had lightly tanned skin, evident from the white long-sleeves that were rolled up just  above the elbows; a red vest fit over the long-sleeved shirt and within a vest pocket, a pocket watch; The silver chain, the links small delicate bones cast in bronze; the clasp seemed to be of tiny teeth, the hinge a jaw to hold its position upon the vest. He wore a bracelet on his left wrist, which rattled when he would move the arm for it too was made of bone. A red beret covered ear-length gold hair, the knife-sharp ears slicing through the golden locks to reveal themselves. The tips of both pierced by bone; the outside cartilage of the left ear pierced three more times with simple silver rings, ringing softly as the wind would catch them. Rafferty wore dark colored trousers with shoes that looked well-travelled, though not a speck of dirt sullied his otherwise spotless outfit.

Having been so distracted, Rafferty cursed to himself as the man turned around, questioning who was there. The redcap was surprised to see another man, though he immediately knew that upon the throne, no man sat. Their exchange was watched in silence, though he had to stop himself; visibly gripping his left arm to keep it from reaching out to take part in the feast. The metallic scent that filled the air drew him, gnawed at his stomach; at the hunger within him. He felt his blood heat and his breath quicken. That hunger paced within its cage in his mind.

Rafferty stepped into the light though no further than he had to, his pupils taking on their catlike quality, his English accent thick and old, 'I am Rafferty, my Lord. I am no son of darkness; my mother was a gypsy and my father a bastard.'

As he introduced himself, the redcap bowed slightly at the waist; the bone bracelet rattling as it took a position behind his back and the other over his chest. The blue eyes never left the vampires form. 'I did not know the lord of this castle lived lest I would not have lingered so. It is my hope I have not angered my Lord by stealing the food that would have been his.'

His eyes drifted slightly to the mummified man, frowning.

What a waste of good flesh...

Such splendid dreams had befallen onto the man. Dreaming of the most beautiful woman doing every desire this man could ever wish for. Slaves willing to do the same as well for this man was a king. He could smell his favorite foods and even taste them. His smile was seen even inside of the deep slumber.

The man seemed to be enjoying his slumber quite well, but soon and kind of cold wind started to flow through the castle entirely making it hum a deep and grotesque lullaby. The moaning of its halls and creeking of it stairs almost made the once dead place seem like a living creature even in itself. However, the man was still sleeping like a king.

After a few moments the winds would cease completely and everything would be silent. The only noise that could be heard was this man's breath. That was until a sudden dripping noise could be heard from the throne room.

Drip...... drip..... drip... drip.. drip

As the dripping became faster and more evident the man would wake up almost in horror. With a quick glace around with his flashlight he seemed like he saw a ghost. An odd feeling since he was so calmly sleeping just seconds ago. This breath could be seen as well as his trembling hands. He screamed at the darkness incoherently. His frantic movements shown only in dying animals as he tried to escape the room, but he couldn't find the door it would look like.

As the man freaked out an angelic voice called out through the entire castle. "Do not be afraid, the lord of this castle is coming." The man instantly froze all his movements and shined his light on the redcap for a moment but didn't realize what it was; Thinking of it as a mere statue. As his light ventured the room and stopped on the throne it began to flicker. Once the beam of light completely vanished the room completely lit up with candle lights as well as the fire behind the throne again.

Sitting in the throne was an old man, brittle and nothing but skin and bone. The travelers eyes got extremely wide and with a shocked breath he would call out to this old timer, "W.w.w.who are yoooo... you." This decrepit man in the throne slowly opened his pale red eyes and spoke with an angelic tone. " I am nothing more than a tired soul. Why have you disturbed my slumber with no offering mortal..."

The visitor could be clearly seen pissing himself for somewhere deep in his mind he knew exactly who this was. He quickly took out his wallet and began placing huge bills of money on the table while not breaking eye contact with the old man. Once the wallet was empty he would ask , " is this enough ?"

The old man would stand up slowly and make his way to the paralyzed man and chuckle so sweetly, that even the traveler laughed nervously with him. Once upon the traveler, the old vampire looked at the money and shook his head, " I clearly have no idea what money is worth these days. " his voice changed to be a bit more sharp as he locked eyes with the traveler. "What I desire is much more precious and something I have been banished from for years after I destroyed realms for it.." A small but twisted smile came acrossed the old man's face as he looked at the red cap for a moment then back at the traveler. " I was once a god, but I had my heart ripped out and misplaced so I'm a mere shell of what I used to be." His hand slowly found its way on the traveler shoulder who was completely frozen in fear. And with a quick flick his throat had been cut and the blood seemed to flow completely into the vampire kings body unlike any vampire the red cap has seen.

With a small chuckle a small bit of color came back to his skin. Lord Vic Mortiz came and sat back down at his throne eyes locked on the red cap who had watched without impeding. " and why is a son of darkness in these abandoned halls." His voice became normal as his harsh Romanian accent could finally been heard.

Truly, there was no greater curiosity than a mans own.

Rafferty felt little need in calling the man stupid, for wondering into an abandoned castle that had held little in the way of power, of importance, outside of gathering dust and providing some aesthetic to the expansive countryside. He had been in search of a home, himself, many winters past. Rafferty couldn't call the man stupid, for the castle was not abandoned.

He lived here.

The Redcap held little love for transgressors, and oft tempted those who toured this area away from their groups. His purpose was to kill, after all, and this was his home: Should he not defend it? Glacier-blue eyes had watched the man, stalking; the redcap's form a blur as it merged with the shadows of the night. The moon was a sliver of itself, waning into its dark side. Rafferty brought himself to a halt, staring intently as his ears -pointed and sharp like a knife- twitched. What was that human listening to? The redcap felt he could almost make out the words, but it was just a murmur of wind.

The Fae watched as the man entered a room, that had been locked to Rafferty in mild bewilderment. No redcap would be as foolish as to leave a room unchecked; he had even found the secret tunnels that would allow the lord of the castle, or perhaps minions of his, to traverse unhindered by the normal flow of the ongoings of castle life. He was struck by the extravagance of the room itself, knowing it to be what he had searching for; Rafferty held little in the way of honor, besides this castle had been long since left, abandoned by its creator? The castle itself held a menacing aura from the outside, the inside empty and cold; that menace turned into an evil and hateful cold; an emptiness that clawed at the edges of sanity. Rafferty had long since given his own up, his soul a dark and twisted thing.

Rafferty stood in the shadows of the threshold of the room, his eyes reflecting the light almost greedily; his ears listening to the soft and even breathing of the now slumbering man. Perhaps Rafferty was seeing a ghost? A reflection of a moment in this castles long history?

The Redcap watched silently; settling himself into the darkness to watch the ghost, this moment of frozen time- if it was a ghost- play itself out.

To say this tale is as old as time is an understatement. The legend of the Vic Mortiz clan has reached further in the past then most beings could even imagine. The lord of the clan was once a simple man turned to a vampire to avenge his family's brutal murder. A vampire who had been vanquished and sent to hell for his transgressions. A demon who was able to claw and rip his way out of eternal torment. A bloodsucking whos fangs turned a dark red and **** with energy of torture. This was Lord Alddon Vic Mortiz, the first vampire, the being with a heart of darkness, a devil among the living.

It had been centuries since his kingdom was at its peak. Now the blood kingdom is a meer empty husk of a castle. Only vermin live upon the dead grounds. Foolish mortals tend to visit the ruins because they are "haunted". Most find no signs of ghosts nor even bones of the deceased. This once proud castle was nothing more then a tourist attraction in the modern era.

One dark night with a full moon risen above the castle, a strange man seemed to want some thrills. He ventured into the castle alone with the knowledge that night time is off limits in this abandoned tomb. He thought he could capture pictures of the supernatural or even video tape a ghost. As he steps into the main forge he felt a very cold embrace. With a loud gulp to calm his nerves he began to explore the main floor in almost complete darkness other than his flashlight.

The man would find himself inside a great dining hall. It was vast and empty. The only object in the room was an extremely long table that had collapsed and rotted away. The horrid smell of mold and mildew was stronger in this area than any. He say portrait holders but no paintings inside of them. The ambiance of this room felt like death itself was hugging him. He would continue his journey to find some long stairways that had a soft chilling breeze about them.

As he ascended the steps, he caught a feeling like he had been being watched for some time. This man shined his light frantically on everything he could. The only noises he could hear was the soft moan of the house setting in the wind and the claws of rats scurring around him. He thought to himself, "for a castle there sure is not a whole lot in here." His thought process was interrupted however by a soft angelic voice.

"Enter the throne room for treasures my wayward friend....."

This voice rang in the man's ears so sweetly. This man's voice seemed so enticing that the man lost all his fears and began to move like a robot towards the throne room. His mind cleared of all thoughts as he opened the doors to see an amazing scarlet throne. The room itself was very well lit and he could see all the Vic Mortiz emblems and golden fixings everhwhre he looked. The room smelt like fresh roses almost creating true peace in this visitor's soul.

Behind the throne was a massive fire, elegant as any could be, but there was something off. This room was the coldest out of the entire castle. The man called out to the voice that told him where to go but had no response. So the man would sit on the throne itself and begin to fall asleep. Walking into the dream realm while in an abandoned castle, and the man couldn't look more peaceful if he tried.

The bear, for all its arrogance, didn't believe that another intelligent being such as itself would be out here. In fact, the mighty being the bear considered itself was almost brought to a halt in its sloth-like march in its quest for food; the bear let out a breath after a second, not realizing he had been holding it. It had been when the animal had decided to check its bearings, checking to see if the scent had changed any.

It briefly pondered how edible the other would be.

The bear's body let out a ripple, shaking off snowflakes yet to melt, and in the next step, a man stood where the bear once had.

Odin was an athletic man, for all the bulk that the bear had to it; red-brown hair shaggy and unkempt -- soon, the thick mane of hair would become burdened by the collective moisture of the falling snow. A dark, golden yellow right eye and an ocean-blue left eye were sat in almond-shaped sockets that rested upon high cheekbones; a gentle concave slope of his cheeks that flowed into a strong jawline, slightly obscured by a growing beard.

His attire consisted of a dark, forest green tunic with a matching pair of breeches that were tucked into a pair of black boots. A sword hung across his back, the hilt and sheathe a bone white - about six inches from the tip of the sheathe was a golden circle inlaid, stylized like flames.

Odin had decided to give up on his first quarry, allowing his course to change slightly in the direction he remembered a good camping site would make, and instead satisfy his curiosity of the other. There would be plenty of time to hunt later. Besides, it wasn't as though he felt the cold overly much in his present form, even the various animals he could change into were all but immune to the harshest of winters, so it wasn't as if a fire would change much for him; save perhaps being able to cook what he found, and even then, he had grown used to raw meat.

Besides, he could use some help to find his way to the village.

'Hello there!' Odin called out as he turned towards the other individual, his voice a deep baritone . 'Are you from the village? Perhaps you could help me. If you are lost, maybe we could help each other.'

The snow the fell around him shook as he spoke; the trees quivering, clumps of snow falling from alive and dead branches. He moved till he was about thirty feet from the hidden woman.

Maybe this other was lost. Not that he was, but Odin enjoyed a companion in his travels and wouldn't turn one down now. Should he be wrong, however, and if he were to have an attack befall his person, he would have a few seconds to ready himself.

He kept his body relaxed, and adopted what he hoped was a gentle smile.

The birds of early morning were beginning to rise from their slumber, soft laughter echoed in the night, the faeries of winter rising to greet the morning sun; the sounds encircling the two as snow continued to fall at a steady pace. None dared approach the area of influence that Odin had, choosing to act as if he were a nuisance, a pest.

They tried to stay out of earshot, as if fearing some form of divine retribution from him; it was never far enough, but any closer and they'd have to be aware of his existence. The shapeshifter didn't question it, rather enjoying the distance they held. He enjoyed it most when he got to choose his companion, not when they were forced upon him.

It wasn't as though Odin had slighted them, or they him; he had merely gained power since he had last stepped into the multiverse -- though he still wasn't sure how it would manifest itself. He did feel changed, undergoing his fathers ritual.

Trial... Whatever...

Odin felt reasonably sure the woman would refrain from attacking him, though given she had just seen a shapeshifting person... Still, she wasn't a hunter looking for glory, or a trophy; He chuckled at the image of his head mounted, as if an average hunter could possibly kill him now.

Ah, there's that arrogance...

Odin hadn't always thought himself so arrogant and full of pride, but he had noticed the thoughts forming more and more.

Perhaps that is why they stay away...

Already, and despite their distance, he could feel his own senses expanding, seeking, the small flickers of power; those same senses stretched towards the hidden woman as well.

How long had it been since had seen anything but a dragon? He snorted, disturbing the snow that had collected on his shoulders and hair.

Could I still get sick?

It had to have been years since she set foot in these lands - lands she once called home.  While she wasn't born within the towering wooden walls, she stumbled upon the village and called it home for many years.  Of course, with nothing tying her to the lands, her heart had sprouted the urge to explore new places and she left without a goodbye.  Scout hadn't befriended many when she first found the village of Rep'nah, only a select few were interested in her.  She wondered if anyone would remember her, or if everyone she had met since moved on to whatever sort of life lay beyond this realm.  Well, they could've just left like she did, but the tale would be much more dramatic if they died.

With a steady pace, Scout kept her eyes peeled for any landmarks she remembered would lead her to the village, perks of having a parent of elven descent.  The chilled winter morning crunched beneath her feet with each step, leaving behind subtle footprints.  She was lost; an early wake time paired with the impatience she's confident belonged to the human side of her convinced her that it would be okay to continue looking for the village before the sun woke.  Terrible judgement is also a trait she places blame on her human ancestors for.  Nothing was as she remembered it.  She swore there was supposed to be an ancient tree to her left that somewhat resembled a naked man, five inches and all, but it was nowhere to be seen.  Maybe the years passed in the far away cities made her forget where she came from.

Lack of perception is also something she blames her human side for, or else she would've noticed the giant animal footprints that she happened to be following before she heard the monstrous growl.  Scout froze in her spot, eyes immediately looking for the culprit.  Judging by the size of the prints, the animal - bear, she suspected - was huge, however it wasn't anywhere to be seen.  Hopefully it hadn't heard her, though she wasn't paying attention to the sound of her steps and just knew they weren't as quiet as she should've made them.

"Heck."

Scout silently went to the nearest tree and began to climb her way up it, hoping the higher vantage point would give her better sight of the bear and she'd be able to hide from it should it have heard her and circled back around.
I'm Prada, you're nada.

In the gentle slopes of Mount Rep'nah, there was an ocean of green; a forest with ancient trees and deep roots; a forest in which lived various fauna and flora. Deep in this forest, where a river comes flowing through, lay a village of mixed ancestry, though human was perhaps the most prevalent of the races that lived within the wooden walls of the Village of Rep'nah. Elves and dwarves called this place home, as well as the mixed offspring that often came about.

The villagers of Rep'nah believe in their god of the same name, whose body they believe makes up the large mountain range that they call home. Rep'nah was an elder god, from before written records; his tale is one passed orally by an elder of Rep'nah, known as a Speaker.

Within the forest there were plenty of fae creatures, such as pixies and nymphs; centaurs and satyrs. Sometimes, the breath of the mountain saw fit to grant life to the trees even. Other mundane creatures traveled through roads only they and skilled trackers could follow.

The winters here were beautiful, the greenery of the forest giving way to the colors of change-- the trees that had adapted became blanketed in white and their dead counterparts frozen with ice. Despite this, life was plentiful throughout the changes of the seasons.

It was a particularly cold morning, the twin moons almost out of sight as the sun tried to reach them, when Odin found himself in this forest; though signs of life were everywhere, he had yet to find civilization, let alone another intelligent creature.

They seemed to be avoiding him, though that could be because of his current form. A bear.

The shapeshifter was easily six feet tall on all four legs; standing would put him near thirteen feet. The thick brown-red hair helped stave off the cold, and his eyes -one bleue and the other yellow- were starting to sting from the cold. He could feel the weather seeping into his bones, slowly leaching the warmth from his body.

He sighed, a deep and intimidating noise coming from a bear, almost like a growl.

While he would rather sleep somewhere warm, he could wait out the remaining hours of darkness for light. He could use a break anyway.

He sniffed the air once before setting off in a different direction, looking for a place to setup camp as to wait out the last few hours of darkness; the snow crunching beneath his weight as he lumbered lazily along.

It started with a subtle shift of the earth; the air changing directions; the trees and grass grew silent; animals, insects, and the other various fauna grew still and looked in no particular direction.

It started with the clouds growing darker, getting fat and heavy with moisture; holding in the water so desperately as if they found no other purpose in this life save to be greedy and deprive the land of its life. But the clouds knew, soon, they would break open like a dam and drown the world with their greedily hoarded water.

It ended with a chill in the air, a feeling that crept up the spine and lodged itself in the back of conscious mind. This feeling, like an itch, could not be ignored, if only because it was so faint that it annoyed the minds consciousness with its elusiveness.

Upon this ending, as the chill bit at the exposed flesh of the worlds inhabitants, there was a sense of expectation that was lifted that hadn't been felt before; a heavy sense of burden and waiting, of impatience and foreboding. The clouds broke, finally, becoming too fat to hold their contents, but instead of rain, it was snow; which fell gently upon the land despite the dark, heavy clouds that threatened to drown everything.

Frost tickled the grass, causing many animals to seek shelter and the comfort of their herd or pack, respectively. There was a great sense of nothing in the air, a void of what should have been. Snow continued to fall, but as it did, a dark mist rolled in from the earth; the harsh, cold wind which, despite its gentle breeze, would eat through most layers of clothing.

"I have arrived," the words spoken but the speaker unseen; the wind carrying words across the earth, which shivered upon the utterance of those three words.

The mist grew heavier, though a shadowed form allowed itself to be seen as if manifesting itself. Unsure of how the figure got there, or when, the fauna bolted away, seeking safer regions than this. Perhaps warmer regions as well.

The snow stopped, the clouds dissipating above to allow the warmth of the sun to take away the cold. The figure, now allowed to be seen, was imposing.

Demonreach allowed himself a small smile as he glanced about, his body exposed to the elements save the colorless pants that hung at his hips; his skin was dark from exposure to the sun, and full of hard lines and ridges; the skin taut with muscle. His silver-ebony hair whisked at his shoulders and the piercing sapphire eyes glittered as they took in their surroundings. Demonreach's bare feet played with the frozen grass, breaking the blades easily as he pondered; his eyes closing, his body opening itself up to the surroundings.

It felt good to walk upon earth once more.

Elder hands; ending in veined, bony fingers, wrapped in weathered skin, clutched the top of a large and simple walking stick. Lifting and planting it with light raspy escapes of breath as the man attached made slow progress towards his goal in the distance. Rough and torn cloth adorned his bent, frail form; a hood masking clouded eyes and a pained expression, as each footfall played out an eternity worth of agony for him and his aging body. He continued onward with a vigilant obstinence; obliging only in the shortest of pauses to catch his breath, as the destination he strove for drew closer and closer. The arms of his resting place; a massive oak of old loomed before him as he continued onward, and as he drug his body through the tortures of such simple movements, the tears of excitement quickly built to a crescendo and could not be stopped. For but a moment the pain was washed away and the old man was at peace as he came to bear upon the trunk of the tree, and with a shaky hand loosing its grip on the stick holding him upright, he placed a palm upon the gnarled trunk with a gentle sigh of relief. His home; from ages beyond his recent tortures and decay: Finally he had made it home.

"I miss you my friends"

Came his voice from beneath the veil of darnkess; the dryness in his throat and rigidness of his lungs obvious even with such a whispered sentiment. He had sought out this place for so long, walking through the darkness of his own thoughts til finally he had arrived... and yet his solitude immediately weighed upon him and his heart quickly sank back into the depths of pain and torture. So many of them were gone; never to be seen or heard from again. So much lost to the ravages of time and disconnect... There beneath the old oak tree's outstretched arms, eyes alight with both the pain of the past and its beautiful memories alike, the old man sat down and closed his eyes. Whether they would ever again open or not, he seemed to neither know nor care. He had come home, and if it should become his final resting place, then so be it...
